As a qualified Accountant David has built up many businesses from start-ups through to stock market launches and is experienced in turnarounds including funding/restructuring initiatives across many sectors.

He is currently also the Chair of The Iona Environmental Venture Capital Trust offering an exclusive opportunity to invest in a genuine green and Government backed portfolio of waste recycling and renewable energy generation assets, principally using proven Anaerobic Digestion (‘AD’) technology.

Brief description of role:

  • Project managed the development and construction of one of the UK’s largest food waste anaerobic digestion facilities and the first merchant food waste facility in the North East to both inject biomethane and export power into the national grid from the digestion of 80,000 tonnes of food waste per annum.
  • Responsible for the operation and optimisation of ten farm-scale and two food waste anaerobic digestion facilities involving weekly review of performance data, laboratory analysis and maintenances programme.
  • Skilled at resolving various contractual, planning, operational and construction issues. This includes negotiation with Northern Gas Networks, Northern Power Grid, and Electricity North West Limited to secure and deliver utility connections within the tight timescales set by Ofgem to secure RHI and FiT incentives.

Qualifications:

  • Operations manager initially for 3 sites, New Mill, Gravel Pit and Brocklesby
  • Maximising and optimising plant performance
  • Ensuring compliance with permits and all legislation
  • Maximising growth and ensuring opportunities are maximised
  • My focus initially on New Mill

Experience:

  • 22 years waste industry experience
  • Last 17 years in energy from waste
  • Extensive experience in treatment of hazardous and non-hazardous waste including clinical, radioactive, offensive, MSW, food waste and effluents
  • Anaerobic digestion (food waste and de-packaging), alternative technology treatment, steam sterilisation, high temperature incineration
  • District heating
  • Energy generation up to 20MW
  • Engineering experience and dealing with shredders, pumps, motors as well and plant build and commissioning
  • Logistics

Qualifications:

  • Certificate of technical competence level 4
  • Full member Chartered Institute of Wastes Managers MCIWM
  • Highest qualification is level 7

Brief description of role:

My role is to develop a consolidated feedstock management plan for each of the AD plates in the company’s portfolio. With the systems and processes being developed to enable rapid monitoring of asset performance, feed stock levels and stock control on a site by site basis. Thereby facilitating the plants to run at their optimum performance.

Experience:

  • Highly developed analytical and data review skills.
  • Highly experienced at simplifying and presenting complex data to a range of audiences.
  • Previous experience in the Biotechnology sector has given a good understanding of the AD processes.
  • Project Managed multiple projects, enabling and influencing with multiple business functions and external parties, ensuring task timelines were maintained and completed effectively.
  • Have lead process improvement and troubleshooting work across a range of industries and situations to maximise product performance.
  • Having worked in heavy regulated industries such as drug manufacture and the medical devices I have a high degree of understanding of regulatory frame works.

Brief Description of the role:

  • My role is to implement, maintain and develop the Environmental Management Systems (EMS) for the six farm AD Plants. Ensuring the Environment Agency permits and all legislation are complied with at the six sites. Lease with EA, Landowners and other stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Graduated from Harper Adams in 2012 studying a degree in Countryside Management
  • Working towards WAMITAB level 4 for Anaerobic Digestion

Experience:

  • Last 5 years I was an Environmental Manager, spreading waste and digestate to land for agricultural benefit through an EA Land-spreading permit.
  • Extensive knowledge RB209 Fertiliser Manual and Agricultural Benefits of applying waste to land
  • Implemented and Maintained an EMS against an EA Land-spreading Permit
  • Compliance of EA audits, TASCC and Red Tractor
